Movie: Ozone! Attack of the Redneck Mutants

The 80s was an awesome decade when it comes to B-horror and Slasher movies if you ask me. We have been served pretty well by the likes of Bad Taste, Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead and so on, which all opened new doors to many yet unknown potential filmmakers and horror fanatics. There were so many great movies out there during those golden years, but unfortunately it came with loads of crap as well...
Hmm.. what do I have to say about this movie? Well, I've been around here from the very first day SlashingThrough.com went online, I already wrote several articles and never had any trouble writing until now. I just don't know where to start and how to continue. You see, Ozone! Attack of the Redneck Mutants is about a hole in the ozone layer that turns innocent people into vicious monsters and that's about it. There's really nothing more to tell. It's just one filthy gorefest that goes on for like 90 minutes. There's no actual character- or story development whatsoever. I better say it straight away: Ozone! Attack of the Redneck Mutants is a big piece of sh!t. I wish it never had seen the light of day. It's actually hard to imagine how bad it is. Therefore, I'd like to call this a Z-Horror movie. And the Z doesn't stand for Zombie.
So all these people turn into zombie-like kind of creatures, but before that happens you're about to get really sick first. You end up coughing and spitting up blood. Eventually your brain goes numb and the urge of killing fellow hillbillies grows. Not much of an original storyline. Sadly enough, that's all you get to see. The opening scene is an infected man trying to stay alive. Puking from one corner to the other is all he does. This goes on for 5 minutes straight. Oh well, it's just the beginning, right? Ha! After that the movie continues for another 10 minutes of lousy scenes adding nothing useful to the story, switching on to an infected woman dying. And then there's another man spreading his puke around like a complete wacko. Who are those people? What are their names? What's their story?
Pretty much like watching a cheap porno involving people you don't know and goes from one scene to another without a real story and having no connection to each other whatsoever. The only difference is that this is supposed to be a horror movie, so the wet hot sex is replaced by blood, puke and terrible visual effects. And to top it all off, it seems all the hot redneck ladies are already killed before the opening credits. So don't get your hopes up high expecting to catch a glimpse of some hot Daisy Duke type of gal. There's nothing wrong with older women who are, let's just say "less pretty", but these women are annoying. For real. They're not even funny. That goes for the entire movie by the way. If this movie had any intentions of being funny, then I might consider Chris Rock's stand-up material hilarious.
If you haven't seen Ozone! Attack of the Redneck Mutants, let's keep it a blessing that you never did. I just don't have any proper words to describe this piece of junk. The story is going nowhere and there's not a single character you could ever relate to or feel sorry for. It's like a bunch of people came up with the idea of making a movie and had it all shot at the same day in just a couple of hours. Yes, this movie has lots of blood and gore 'action', but the so called make-up and visual effects are terrible. I really adore bad acting and horrible make-up, but this is just way out of proportion. All of this causing the movie to run very slow and I can tell you.. watching this crap was a real pain in the ass! I felt so relieved when the end credits finally started to roll. Clicking the off-button on my remote was very tempting on many occasions during the many never-ending scenes. I just don't understand why this piece of shit got a worldwide release in the first place. So is there anything good about this movie? I can answer that with just a simple 'no'.
Since we don't ever give zero stars (boy, how I wish Ozone! Attack of the Redneck Mutants could be the only exception!), it'll lead me no other choice giving this movie half a star. Funny fact though: when I opened the case to get the DVD out of its dusty shell, the receipt was still in it. It said: January 25th, 2005. Holy crap! That means I got this movie 7 years ago. And in all those years there's nothing good I've missed!
