2013 is coming!

We are ending the year 2012 and beginning a new year of horrors. There will be a lot going on in the remake department but will there be more than that? What will 2013 hold for us and what are our thoughts about the upcoming movies.

Horror movies 2013

Texas Chainsaw 3D

Texas Chainsaw 3D

Yet another installment in the series and this time they don't give anything about the prequels/sequels. Will this be a successful return of Leatherface?

    The Good

  • Leatherface back on the big screen
  • The sweet sound of chainsaws!
  • Throws every sequel/prequel to the side

    The Bad

  • Just feels like another reboot which is not needed
  • 3D: what can it possible bring
  • Throws every sequel/prequel to the side

Mama

Mama

Mama will be a new ghost story and let's just hope for the best with this one. We have enough bad ghost stories and let this one be among the better, Del Toro dropped on to this so there must be something more special than just another ghost movie going on.

    The Good

  • Guillermo del Toro is making his hands dirty with this one
  • Atmosphere is looking really nice

    The Bad

  • Guillermo del Toro did deliver the poor Afraid of the Dark
  • Could well end like one of the oh so many ghost stories

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

We know the stories; this time Hansel and Gretel get flipped over. We saw how things shouldn't be done with Red Riding Hood and the mediocre Snow White and the Huntsman. Let's hope they won't go to cartoony with this one and actually make the R-rating a pleasant surprise.

    The Good

  • A known fairytale in a dark setting
  • R-rated movie which gives hope it won't be tuned down

    The Bad

  • The plot is looking very thin
  • Could end up like another VanHelsing

The ABCs of Death

The ABCs of Death

An awesome anthology if you look at the names that are joining this project. Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. Co-produced by Drafthouse Films and finally ready to be unleashed-see what happens when you give more than two dozen of the most brilliant filmmakers from around the world free reign to indulge their creative impulses and black humor.

    The Good

  • The best directors are in
  • Many orginal ideas to compile this anthology.

    The Bad

  • Maybe it will end up in one big mess with too many stories
  • Without strong stories it will fail

The Lords of Salem

The Lords of Salem

Some of our fellow reporters have already seen the movie at select film festivals but we still need to wait til 2013. Rob Zombie will give us an cultish extravaganza with Lords of Salem.

    The Good

  • The whole setting
  • Plot seems to be key here

    The Bad

  • That it won't be a horror movie at all
  • The actors again

Hellraiser

Hellraiser

I am no fan of remakes like most of you would probably know and I am one big fan of Hellraiser. What I was not hoping for was a remake of the first Hellraiser movie, since in my opinion it is already strong and still is looking great. But Mr Barker is completely helping out with the remake so we should see what happens!

    The Good

  • Finally Hellraiser back on the big screen!
  • Clive Barker is in the project as producer

    The Bad

  • Not coming close to the orginal
  • The one that replaces Doug Bradley needs to be real good
  • No release date yet

World War Z

World War Z

Brad Pitt in a zombie apocalypse movie which is based on one the best zombie books ever written! Rumours have it that Brad is a real nightmare on the set. Will this be the case for the whole movie?

    The Good

  • Looks very good
  • High production value
  • Based on one of the best zombie books ever

    The Bad

  • CGI zombies
  • Will it stick with the book?
  • Will still be a major Hollywood production

The Evil Dead

The Evil Dead 2013

Evil Dead is one of those movies you either love or hate, so let’s hope they don't mess up too much with this remake/reboot. Ash isn't in it and a lot of scenes have been re-done which leaves us with the question: "will there be more than just thing we already know?"

    The Good

  • Very clean and slick
  • Gore, gore and more gore
  • Trying to do things differently

    The Bad

  • Will the movie have any soul?
  • No Ash
  • Maybe we would have wanted to see it a bit more campy

Army of Frankenstein

Army of Frankenstein

Russian soldiers push into eastern Germany and stumble upon a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Viktor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein's work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades. If that doesn't sound cool I don't know what is!

    The Good

  • The style of the artwork and look and feel of the movie
  • Very cool plot
  • So far it still is a mystery

    The Bad

  • That the real movie won't come close to the visual style they set out.
  • We want some real footage!
  • Will the movie live up to the hype?

Some other movies that are of course coming are: [REC]4: Apocalypse, Carrie, Dracula 3D, Return of Class of Nuke 'em High and Toxic Avenger. We wanted to just highlight a few of them; of course more movies are coming. Every movie that has been talked about in this segment is pure speculation and we have to see if the final products will be any good. We will give everything a fair chance to get slashed through once they are out! Let us know which movies you look forward to!
