Eli Roth to design Hostel theme park attraction

Horror director teams up with Universal Studios to create maze inspired by 'torture factory' scenes from his 2005 film.Ever fancied being the star of your own torture porn flick? Hollywood's Universal Studios theme park will soon be offering the next best thing in the form of a Hostel-themed attraction designed by the cult horror film's director, Eli Roth.

Hostel: Hunting Season will take the form of a maze based on scenes from the 2005 film and will debut in time for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights season this autumn. Visitors will presumably be able to recreate the feeling of utter panic one experiences following the realisation that the Slovakian youth hostel where one had planned to get a cheap bed for the night is in fact the lair of women hired to seduce and drug tourists so they can be sold to torturers.

"Creating a maze for Halloween Horror Nights is a horror fan's dream come true," Roth told Variety. "I've been visiting Halloween Horror Nights for years, and still remember the heart-pounding terror of going through the mazes for the first time."

Roth will also help judge the event's annual short film competition, with the winner being announced on Halloween Horror Nights' opening evening: 23 September. Past attractions introduced to the theme park as part of its annual Halloween celebrations have included mazes based on the Saw and Friday 13th horror series. A maze based on the forthcoming The Thing prequel is also due to be introduced this year.
