So, unfortunately it's been quiet for some time in our lifestyle section due to health problems, I will try to pick it up slowly by informing you guys about upcoming events, starting of with Magic Fair and giving you the chance to visit for free!
Magic Fair takes place on the 14th of July and this seventh edition has "Snake" as a theme. You'll see this theme coming back in activities like a snake-themed scouting expedition, workshops on how to do a snake face-paint and shops with all kinds of snake-related stuff and games. A new feature on this years edition is a writing competition held by the publisher Zilverspoor. Do you have what it takes to be the new fantasy writer? Join the competition and win yourself a very nice E-book.
Also new and very special is the opportunity to witness or experience a Handfasting. Handfasting is an ancient European ceremony of (temporary or permanent) betrothal or wedding that dates back to pre-Medieval times and usually involves the tying or binding of the hands of the bride and groom with a cord or ribbon. The marriage vows taken are for "a year and a day" and a marriage can only be joined by a Wiccan High priestess. The couple will be blessed by the elements and the Gods, their hands will be tied together with a ribbon and seven vows, after which they'll jump over a broom together and the High priestess herself will bless the couple. The couple taken place in the Handfasting will receive a certificate and the ribbon used to tie their hands together in the ceremony. If you would like to take part in the Handfasting, be quick to register since there is only place for 6 couples!
As with every fantasy fair, you'll be able to shop till you drop, Magic Fair is no different. You'll find lots of books, jewellery, clothing, incense, merchandise and witchcraft supplies to take home with you. Be sure to visit the stand of Stunning and Gorgeous, they make some really special cakes, sure not the traditional pink rose ones but something more fitting for a fantasy fair!
Also not traditional but something you should definitely check out is the collection of curiosities wich you can find in Serpentia's Salonneke, property of the witch Serpentia. You'll find some strange snakes in there...
Magic Fair is very kid-friendly and therefore makes it a perfect event to visit as a family. There are activities for every age and audience so if it is just the two of you, a group of friends or even if you are just by yourself, Magic Fair will definitely give you a fun-filled day. You will need every minute to learn, experience, shop and wonder, so please visit this lovely cosy fantasy event that is called Magic Fair.
Now, I can totally imagine you want to visit this event, and you can for free! Slashing Through is giving away 5x2 entrance tickets, for a chance to win please leave a comment on this article answering this question: What is the name of the witch who ownes a collection of curiosities?
